Happy first day back to school for UNR students!
I had a lovely week-and-a-half long vacation with my husband. We spent a lot of time outdoors, which we both need to do more often. We both needed this time off and it was a great way to end the summer.
I am excited to get back into a routine. Although my schedule is pretty goofy (all afternoon and evening classes), I’m looking forward to the classes I’ll be taking. Since I finished the business school core requirements, I’m finally in all upper-level classes.
Fall 2022 Class Schedule
- Principals of Managerial Finance – this counts towards my Accounting minor. I know a lot of data is financial information and I’m excited to get a deeper understanding here.
- Business Systems Development – This is where I’ll be learning C# and using Visual Studio.
- Advanced Business Systems Development – There was a change in professor for this class, but I should get to learn about mobile development (also using Visual Studio). I got signed into this class early, but I’m sure that I’ll be able to keep up with the challenge.
- Project Management – pretty self-explanatory, but I always find the management classes more interesting than I expect them to be.
- Database Design and Implementation – I’m very excited for this class, this is the material I’m here for. This is the only class I’ve gotten my books for so far and I’m excited that one of them is for SQL.
Expectations
Now that I’ve had some time off, I’m so ready to dive into these classes. This is the first semester that I’m taking 15 credits (the previous have all been 12 or less), so I’m a little worried about burn-out. Once we get through this first week of classes, I’ll have a better idea of what my free time will look like and can schedule out time for self-care. Since my husband works on campus and is taking two classes this semester as well, we’re looking into a meal plan for the semester so we can have an easy dinner together a couple times a week.
Time is really flying by so quickly. I’ve been back in school for a whole year now and I’ve learned and changed more than I expected. I can’t wait to update my resume and get back to the “real world” with my new skills and knowledge.

Great maker wrangler! She showed me how to use a skill saw and I only lost 1 finger.
4/5 stars
Thank you for the lovely review of my time at the Makerspace, John Doe! I’m sorry the hot glue gun didn’t work to reattach your finger, but at least we tried!
